zonSudoku for iPhone (Update)

Update: It has been approved and is currently available for free in the AppStore here.

Well, after some time waiting for things to happen and after some work and home changes, last Friday I was finally able to code something.
I decided and bought the iPhone SDK license and started porting the zonSudoku game. And today, one week later here it is, zonSudoku for iPhone.
As I expected, it has the same features as the desktop version and the controls fit perfectly with the iPhone touchscreen. I’ve also added some improvements and features.

This is the first version and it’s waiting for approval on the iTunes Store. As soon as it is available I’ll let you know.
There are things missing like stats and a more suitable background music. This will be added in the next revision, as soon as I can (most of it is almost implemented).

Well, after a few days I have updated the Sudoku game. I’ve added a few things.

  • Timer to let you know the time you have wasted 😀
  • Option to clear one cell either by right-clicking on it or by ctrl-click.
  • Finish sound famicom style. Thanks to pepino.

Esthetically the changes are minor, but here is an screenshot.

Next release will take a bit long as I’m developing the Backgammon game.

Well, I have added a show tips to easy the solving to some people who asked for it.

There was also a minor bug in the generation algorithm, but now is solved.

zonSudoku 1.0 finally

Well, two days late, but who cares. It’s a sudoku game, waste of time at the end.
As every Sudoku game, you play, you squeeze your brain and then quit the game 😛
I’ve finally solved the problem with the board generator being to slow (a mistake in a recursive call to a function) and now 16×16 boards are generated alright.

zonSudoku: Why another sudoku game?

This is a game I wrote because my mother was always asking me for a good Sudoku game. She wanted it to be free, cause the one she was using before was always showing a “buy me” message.

But the reason to do it was because she also asked it to be easy to use. At first I thought she is just a little picky about the applications she tried. I downloaded all the sudokus apps that I show at versiontracker and found that they all have some type of GUI problem.

So yesterday I decided to build my own Sudoku application an I finished it the same day. There are somethings I have to polish (add Icon, delete unused menus), but I think I will publish it today.

My sudoku game will have different modes: 4×4, 9×9 and 16×16 grids. I think in next versions I’ll add a solver. With the code I have right now it won’t be difficult but this way I’ll force myself to update the application.
