UPDATED: Well, today don’t seem to be my day. First there was a bug in the logic. Now, when solving the failure I changed the board disposition and forgot to restore it, so don’t download this version.

I’ll post a new version later this week with the new AI and everything I’ll find wrong.

This was fast. There was a bug in the logic of the game so when there were two pieces on the bar and you could only move one, the system will get stuck cause it thought you can move both.

Sorry for causing any problems, but I though I have tested all the variations.

UPDATE: Please, don’t download the game as there is a bug right now that I didn’t found. Wait for the next update today.

Well, it took me more than I thought. The main problem (memory issues apart) was developing the AI of the computer.

Right now it’s not the best player but it will do. I’ll continue improving this week so be prepared for a new version as soon as the new AI is finished.

Yesterday I found some time to code something. As I’m also with other projects I had little time to continue with the Backgammon game.

I have finally develop all the GUI drawing. There are only missing the controls to end turn and start a new game.

The computer AI is also finished but there are some problems with memory management that I’m trying to solve before releasing the app. I hope I have time to finish it before next week.

After promising a release date for today, I have to say that I can’t achieve it.

The main problem has been that I’m between jobs. This week I’ve been having job interviews and now I have a few days to finish all the paper work in order to untie from the company. I hope to continue the work early next week.

Well, after a few days I have updated the Sudoku game. I’ve added a few things.

• Timer to let you know the time you have wasted
• Option to clear one cell either by right-clicking on it or by ctrl-click.
• Finish sound famicom style. Thanks to pepino.

Esthetically the changes are minor, but here is an screenshot.

Next release will take a bit long as I’m developing the Backgammon game.

Yesterday I had some time to spare with the code and I have finish the graphic interface, with pieces movement and all the underlying logic. This should seem easy in other environments (flash for example) but in cocoa it took me a whole afternoon.

As for the rest of the application, the only thing remaining is the machine AI. I have it finished in java and I’ll port it to cocoa as soon as I have time.

As always is simple. If I can I’ll add some texture to the board color, but don’t look for it as is not a needed thing.

Well, keeping my original name nomenclature, next application will be a Backgammon game. This is due to a number of facts. The more important one is that I’m experimenting with Core Image so I’m trying to have all the base knowledge that I can. Also I wanted to make some application with basic AI and I thought backgammon has all this things: drag and drop graphics, AI and some graphics.

I started it’s development yesterday, so I hope I will release the first version on friday at the very latest, but I think I’ll have it by wednesday.

There was also a minor bug in the generation algorithm, but now is solved.

Well, two days late, but who cares. It’s a sudoku game, waste of time at the end.
As every Sudoku game, you play, you squeeze your brain and then quit the game
I’ve finally solved the problem with the board generator being to slow (a mistake in a recursive call to a function) and now 16×16 boards are generated alright.

This is a game I wrote because my mother was always asking me for a good Sudoku game. She wanted it to be free, cause the one she was using before was always showing a “buy me” message.

But the reason to do it was because she also asked it to be easy to use. At first I thought she is just a little picky about the applications she tried. I downloaded all the sudokus apps that I show at versiontracker and found that they all have some type of GUI problem.

So yesterday I decided to build my own Sudoku application an I finished it the same day. There are somethings I have to polish (add Icon, delete unused menus), but I think I will publish it today.

My sudoku game will have different modes: 4×4, 9×9 and 16×16 grids. I think in next versions I’ll add a solver. With the code I have right now it won’t be difficult but this way I’ll force myself to update the application.

Wait for a release later today.
